Afro-Colombian Discrimination

Hi blog visitors, today I wanna talk about the discrimination that Afro-Colombians suffer. As a Colombian citizen and native from Cartagena (one of the cities mentioned in the video which I referenced above) I can give specific details of the work that my city has done to fight against this type of discrimination. Cartagena, as most of you may know, is a city colonized by Spanish habitants but habited mostly by African slaves, the result of this is that most of the population is Afro. It's normal for us to see afro people everywhere, but it's not as usual to see this people become rich; that's because the black population were slaves and fishers. In my city we are proud to share our culture and our races, our roots make us feel happy, also the influence of Africans in music such as "mapalé" and "champeta". Eventhough afro people has not always the same oportunities we are fighting to promote equality. All cities in Colombia should defenitely promote equality so that we all can have complete access to education and to the same civil rights. That's all I can say, I hope you support my idea and make it real, we can make a difference.
